Fallen Heroes Death Benefit Program
Since 1997, the SCSA's Fallen Heroes program has provided a death benefit of up to $10,000 to the family of deputy sheriffs killed in the line of duty. We've been able to increase this amount to reflect one times the fallen deputy's base salary up to $150,000 for both active sworn and non-sworn personnel. This benefit has also been expanded now to pertain to both on and off-duty deaths. While money cannot take away the pain of such a devastating loss, your support for a fallen deputy's family at such a difficult time offers relief for immediate financial concerns.
In addition to expanding our Fallen Heroes Death Benefit program, we've added a new Accidental Death and Dismemberment provision.
This new provision pays additional benefits to sheriff's office employees who are paid members of the South Carolina Sheriffs' Association in the event of any of the following situations:
- Accidental Severe Burn & Disfigurement Benefit
- Bereavement & Trauma Counseling Benefit
- Burial & Cremation Benefit
- Bulletproof Vest Benefit
- Felonious Assault & Violent Crime Benefit
- Home Alteration & Vehicle Modification Expense Benefit
- Paralysis Benefit
This benefit is entirely funded by caring, concerned supporters of law enforcement, like yourself. Rest assured that every penny of the proceeds collected from this program will go directly to the family of those Sheriff's Deputies who bravely lay their lives down in protection their fellow man. It is only through the compassion and generosity of Honorary Members like you that we have been able to come alongside the families of our fallen, standing with them. This is one of the most meaningful and important things we do together as an Association.
Fallen Heroes Partners
The Fallen Heroes Partner Program was created when one of our Honorary Members came up with a unique idea to maintain enough money in the death benefit fund. Fallen Heroes Partners agree to join the program with a $50 donation and then pledge to contribute $50 to the death benefit program each time we have to pay a out a benefit to a fallen hero's family in our community. With enough members, this will keep the benefit account in positive numbers when the need arises.
